ONE Nuclear Energy has taken a key step toward building a major new power and data complex in Louisiana. The company has signed a binding letter of intent with local landowners to secure the site for its proposed Project Cayman development.
Project Cayman is planned as a multi-faceted infrastructure hub. It will combine a large natural gas-fired power plant with a significant battery storage facility and a high-capacity data centre campus. The development is situated near the RiverPlex MegaPark, close to where SpaceX is expanding its operations.

ONE Nuclear CEO Richard Taylor stated the project demonstrates his company's commitment to supporting economic growth in a key industrial region. "The project will deliver the reliable energy needed to support new investment, create jobs, expand the local tax base and generate additional funding for community priorities and critical infrastructure," Taylor said.
Addressing Regional Energy Demand
The site was selected to complement ongoing economic development in the area. This includes recent investments from other industrial players and new transmission infrastructure built by utility Entergy. The project aims to strengthen regional grid reliability by providing energy storage and dispatchable generation.
This comes as the region faces a surge in new electricity demand driven by industry and technology. Taylor specifically cited the need created by other large developments, including the SpaceX Starbase project and a major steel mill planned by Hyundai.
Community Engagement and Next Steps
Community engagement activities have already begun. A series of public information meetings involving local parishes, government agencies, and other stakeholders is planned. These sessions are scheduled to run from September through December 2026.
The company described the letter of intent as a key step toward developing what it calls reliable, scalable, and technology-ready energy infrastructure. This infrastructure is intended to address increased power needs for industry and data-driven businesses in Louisiana and beyond.
Broader Development Strategy
The Louisiana move follows other activity by ONE Nuclear. In June 2026, the company signed a separate letter of intent with Sunshine Partners US. That agreement involves considering joint development of power projects across five sites in West Texas.
That group of properties, referred to as the West Texas Platform, totals about 18,275 acres. It spans five counties within the ERCOT West electricity market.
